MEMORIAL DAY REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY
WWI War Memorial, Zion Park, Brownsville, Brooklyn

The Greater New York Chamber of Commerce; Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Coast Guard and Airmenâs Club; Pitkin Avenue BID; Dignity Memorial Chapel; Kings County Jewish War Veterans; Fire Department of the City of New York ; Brownsville Ascend Charter School; Redhawk Native American Arts Council
Concept of Event, and Purpose
Brownsville, Brooklyn is a neighborhood that was predominantly Jewish when this WWI Memorial was erected in Zion Park in 1925. Today, Brownsville is predominantly African- American and Latino. This ceremony represents the unity in transition of neighborhoods over time, as all those communities of diverse backgrounds, ethnicity and religions will be coming together to honor our uniformed servicemen who were lost in service, and those who have served our country and returned and remain with us, predominantly Jewish then, and now predominantly Latino and African-American.
